Assembling steel structures at height using rope access

Commissioned by Van Wijnen and in collaboration with Baron&Verhoef, ATI Abseiltechnieken mounted two steel constructions in the lampposts of the new Cambuur stadium early this year. The steel constructions are intended for the large LED screens, which will be installed shortly. Our many years of experience in mounting steel structures in combination with our industrial abseiling techniques enabled us to mount the steel structures safely and efficiently at height. Our abseiling techniques made it possible for our engineers to carry out the assembly both inside and outside the aerial platform on the ropes. This approach ensured an efficient and safe approach to the assembly at height of steel structures by our rope access technicians.

Working safely at height
Rope access is the safest way to work at height. A.T.I. Abseiltechnieken works exclusively according to IRATA and VCA guidelines. This means that all our personnel are trained to perform work at locations that are difficult to reach. Statistics collected worldwide by IRATA since the association’s inception show that the work/(near) accident ratio with rope access work is almost zero. Especially when compared with conventional aerial work methods.

No fixed equipment needed
For working at height, setting up a fixed installation is often considered, and for frequent maintenance this is often advisable. Apart from the purchase of an entire system, it must also be maintained and inspected. Employees may have to be trained to operate the system. However, when maintenance is infrequent or rare, working with rope access techniques is an excellent alternative. The cost of purchase and inspection is a huge saving and with the deployment of rope access abseiling techniques, costs are only charged for actual maintenance work
